In addition to the services and hub operations Helsinki XR Center (HXRC) provides, it also plays a role in various other activities within the XR field: participating in XR projects, arranging events and supporting rising talents within Metropolia University of Applied Sciences’ XR Design Degree students.

As one of our main activities we take part in a larger number of research, development and innovation (RDI) projects in the field of XR (virtual, augmented and mixed reality). These can be research projects funded by either national or international instruments, product development and cooperation with companies, or smaller scale student projects. For project related questions, please contact our XR Technology Expert Santeri Saarinen (santeri.saarinen(at)helsinkixrcenter.com).

We also want to do all we can to support the Finnish XR scene, and we believe that events act as a crucial part in the development of a close XR community. That is why we actively arrange different kinds of gettogethers, workshops, showcases and other events for Finnish XR developers, artists, entrepreneurs, engineers, scientists, students and enthusiasts. For event related questions, please contact our Events & Collaboration Specialist Essi Leivo (essi.leivo(at)helsinkixrcenter.com).

What comes to student co-operation, Metropolia University of Applied Sciences’ XR Design degree students – as well as students from many other Metropoia UAS’ study programmes – have been an active and essential part of HXRC’s projects and happenings right from the beginning.
