Stepping into virtual reality – Match XR 2020 coming on November 25th

Join us on this experimental immersive technology conference and get-together in virtual reality on Wednesday 25 November 2020 from 9am to 5pm!

Say hello to our highlight event of the year: Match XR 2020!

For the last few years Match XR – previously known as Match Up – has gathered the Finnish XR (extended reality) community together to celebrate and connect the best solutions and creators in the business to investors, clients and colleagues. In 2019 our event had over 750 guests and it’s program consisted of 37 exhibitors with demo booths and presentations from Varjo, Steven LaValle, Telia XR Challenge as well as several case studies. You can read more about last year’s event from this link.

As the corona pandemic has heavily affected international traveling and events in 2020, we decided to arrange this year’s event in virtual reality on the popular social VR platform AltspaceVR, in our self-made virtual venue.

At this virtual event, Match XR 2020, you get to experience the current state of Finnish XR industry: the event is full of interesting speeches and presentations, and you even get to visit virtual worlds created by our partners. For Finnish virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) companies Match XR gives a chance to shine and connect globally, and for international audiences it offers an unique opportunity to meet and experience the professionals of the Finnish XR field in a special way.

Our beautiful venue – VR Pavilion Finland

Match XR 2020 is happening in AltspaceVR at our brand new virtual venue VR Pavilion Finland. With the purpose to host Match XR and future events in virtual reality, VR Pavilion Finland was handcrafted by Helsinki XR Center during the summer of 2020.

VR Pavilion Finland is a beautiful, otherworldly and versatile venue that is inspired by the Nordic midnight sun, expressionism, surrealism and endless creative potential of VR. It couldn’t exist anywhere else.

The venue consists of two spaces: the main pavilion and an inspiring presentation amphitheater. The main pavilion has an open community area for networking, smaller special meeting rooms upstairs and a teleportation zone into partner worlds on the ground floor.

The main program, e.g. presentations, take place at the beautiful amphitheatre, and it is something you do not want to miss.

READ MORE ABOUT THE VENUE ON MATCH XR 2020 OFFICIAL WEBSITE.

Teleport yourself to the partner worlds

At Match XR 2020, you get to hear presentations and keynotes about the current state of Finnish XR: hear about what our dear partners have created, and if you are attending through AltspaceVR, you can even chat with them “face-to-face” after the speeches!

Since AltspaceVR supports community created environments, we decided to give our partners the opportunity to let their creativity flow and create their own virtual worlds into AltspaceVR. These worlds will be linked into our main hub’s expo area via teleport, which is located in the venue’s ground floor. All the partner worlds will remain linked to the virtual venue (VR Pavilion Finland) and be freely accessible for all Altspace users even after the event.

Event program in short

The event takes place between 9am and 5pm Finnish time.

The day starts at 9am with a “Good Morning from Helsinki” live-broadcast session from Helsinki XR Center’s studio in Helsinki. The morning session includes the opening words by Jan Vapaavuori, Mayor of Helsinki, and a panel discussion where XR industry experts discuss the Finnish AR/VR scene, startup ecosystem and the impact of 5G development. Read more about the speakers here.

From 10am to 5pm the day will be filled with presentations by innovative Finnish XR companies, artists and scientists: hear what they have created and chat with them face-to-face after presentations in AltspaceVR, or observe the show through our Youtube stream.

During the event, you can freely explore and experience VR Pavilion Finland main event area, partner worlds and meet our partners, speakers and event guests.

The whole event is streamed to Youtube, so you can also attend Match XR 2020 by following our live stream.
