Helsinki XR Center invites early-stage and established SMEs working with sustainable solutions to participate in an AIStart – Tekoälyhautomo Project Workshop on the 8th of April, 2025.
Workshop Objectives
The workshop is designed for SMEs from various sectors, working with sustainability solutions. This call targets companies especially working in areas of circular economy, sustainable development and urban development. Participants will collaborate to identify their unique needs, and explore how immersive technologies could shape their products.
We aim to present the Immersive Sustainability Lab initiative and to co-develop its different possibilities for companies to be a useful testbed and a place to cultivate successful immersive solutions.
Workshop Goals
- Explore existing XR related solutions applicable across industries, including sustainability-focused and general business challenges.
- Introduce the Immersive Sustainability Lab as a testbed for prototyping and scaling immersive technology based projects.
- Connect with a network of SMEs and stakeholders focused on AI and XR innovation.
- Find needs and ways of utilizing immersive technologies in sustainability related topics.
Workshop Eligibility
Early-stage and established SMEs working with sustainable solutions looking to:
- Enhance sustainability based services and products through innovative ideas with immersive tools.
- Explore how immersive technologies can be used to visualize data and to communicate information efficiently.
No need for a deep understanding of technology.

Background
The AIStart – Tekoälyhautomo project aims to support early-stage and low-digital-maturity companies, particularly SMEs, in leveraging artificial intelligence and digital solutions. By increasing their digital maturity, the project empowers businesses to transition toward secure and effective use of AI. Key objectives include developing advisory services, fostering innovation clusters, and creating unified test environments for experimentation. The project integrates sustainability and digital transformation through initiatives like the Immersive Sustainability Lab, which serves as a testbed for XR and AI-driven solutions.
