Introducing XR Hub team: Radical Rabbit

Currently consisting of 13 developer teams, Helsinki XR Center is the biggest and most active extended reality (XR) creator hub of the Finnish Virtual Reality Association (FIVR). We are very proud to be operating this active, all-together great community, and the talent of these people amazes us every day.

And now it is time for us to introduce these teams to you in a proper way!

During summer 2020, we will be posting articles about our XR Hub teams on a weekly basis. These articles are based on interview questions, answered by the teams themselves. This is your chance to get to know our talented community, team by team!

Let us introduce to you, the first team of the series, Radical Rabbit!

  1. What does your team do, or aim to do?’

“We conceptualize and develop XR experiences for businesses to advocate new understanding. We offer consultation, development, production services and help companies to take their first steps into XR through a comprehensive XR Workshop.”

  1. What is the idea or the “mission” behind your team?

“We drive fresh understanding and perspectives to the world through the use of XR technologies. Digital realities give people an opportunity to learn through first-hand experiences and their own actions.”

  1. Tell us a little bit about your team members!

“The core team consists of 4 people ranging from experience design and spatial content production to XR development and consultation. In addition we collaborate with experts specialized in a certain use context or technology.”

  1. What project(s) are you currently working on?

“At the moment we are working on a climate change -project for an exhibition where visitors get an understanding of society’s response, through action, to managing floods and how smart building inacts positive change in our urban habitat.

Our other initiative is AnnI, a virtual assistant using speech recognition, who helps visitors navigate physical spaces where there is a lack of human resources.

Lastly we are supporting PEACE, a US based charity organization, in their efforts to create sustainable social change in West Africa through an interactive 360° fundraising campaign – bringing users from social media into the middle of a school day in Sierra Leone in web-based virtual reality.”

  1. Why did you decide to join Helsinki XR Center’s XR developer hub?

“We wanted to be surrounded by people with a deep understanding of spatial computing and its implications for human behaviour. Bouncing ideas and challenging our perspectives is the best way for us to develop as creators.”

  1. When did you join the XR Hub, and how long had your team existed before joining?

“Our team first worked in FIVR’s YLE Hub for over a year before moving to the XR center in August 2019.”

  1. As a part of the XR Hub, how has your experience been so far?

“We love the people – they are the best asset of the XR Center! We also appreciate having a chance to test and play with the latest XR devices.”

  1. What is the most interesting or exciting thing about ‘extended reality’?

“The most exciting thing about XR is blurring the lines between the realities (AR, VR, MR) and seamlessly moving between digital and physical realities.”
